Buying a sofa in Britain usually means handing over a deposit to a company you've never dealt with, then waiting six to twelve weeks to find out whether you made a good decision. We do it the other way round. Here's exactly how, and why it's worth understanding before you order anything from anyone.
How it works
You pay nothing up front. No deposit, no card details, no payment link. You message us, we agree the sofa, and that's the extent of the commitment.
We build it and deliver it. Usually two to three days, because we make in the UK rather than importing.
You inspect it at your door. Look at the fabric, the colour, the size, the stitching. Take your time.
You pay in cash, if you're happy. If you're not, it goes back on the van and you've lost nothing, because you never paid anything.
Why this matters more than it sounds
The deposit model exists to protect the retailer, not you. Once they hold your money, the balance of power shifts. If the sofa arrives and the colour is wrong, or it's smaller than you pictured, or the fabric feels cheaper than it looked online, you're now arguing to get your own money back.
With no deposit, that argument can't happen. There's nothing to claw back. If it isn't right, you say so at the door and we take it away.
It also changes what we can get away with. A business taking deposits can afford the occasional disappointed customer, because it already has the money. We can't. If our photographs oversold a sofa, we find out on the doorstep and we've paid for a wasted delivery. That's a strong incentive to describe things accurately.
The honest limitations
Two things worth knowing.
Cash means cash. Have it ready on delivery day. We can take card if you prefer — just tell us when you order — but cash is what we recommend and what most customers use.
Made-to-order means made for you. Once you've accepted and paid for a sofa built to your size and fabric, we can't take it back because you've changed your mind a fortnight later. It was built for your room and can't be resold. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, custom-made goods are excluded from the standard 14-day cooling-off period.
That's precisely why we want you to look at it properly before paying. Your rights if something is faulty are completely unaffected — the Consumer Rights Act still applies, and our returns page sets out exactly what that means.
Is it safe to buy furniture this way?
It's safer than the alternative, for a simple reason: you're never out of pocket at any point before you've seen what you're buying.
The usual advice for buying online — don't pay upfront to a business you can't verify — is exactly what cash on delivery does automatically.
You can also check us before you order. We're on Google with a verified business listing, and you can call us on 07857 057840 and speak to a person.
